Wisconsin welcomes six new wrestlers for upcoming season

Wisconsin Wrestling is preparing to welcome six new student-athletes for the 2025–26 season. The group includes state champions, nationally ranked competitors, and academic achievers, reinforcing the program’s tradition of excellence.

Head coach Chris Bono expressed enthusiasm about the new recruits, stating, “Our coaching staff is fired up about this incoming freshman class. Their dedication, character and drive set the tone for the future of our program. We’re proud to welcome them to the Badger family.”

The incoming athletes are:

– Peter Tomazevic from Freedom High School in Wisconsin, a 2023 State Champion known for his aggressive style. He trained at Askren Wrestling Academy and competes in the 133/141 lbs category.

– Devin Bobzien from Milton High School in Wisconsin, a state champion recognized with both the Character & Leadership All-American Award and Scholar All-American Award. He competes at 141 lbs.

– Tyson Waughtel from Vandalia High School in Illinois, a three-time IHSA State Champion and 2025 NHSCA National Champion. He brings an elite national resume including time with Purler Wrestling Academy and competes at 125 lbs.

– Caleb Dennee from Marshfield High School in Wisconsin, a two-time Fargo All-American ranked No. 9 nationally by FloWrestling. He competes at 184 lbs.

– Collin McDowell from Arrowhead Union High School in Colgate, Wisconsin, a four-time state placer who trained with Askren Wrestling Academy. He competes at 149 lbs.

– Tyson Imhoff from Highland High School in Wisconsin, a WIAA State Champion who trained with Sarbacker Wrestling Academy. He competes in the 157/165 lbs category.

Each athlete has expressed excitement about joining Wisconsin’s wrestling program and pursuing their education while competing at a high level.
