The West Virginia University wrestling team, ranked No. 17 nationally, will close out its 2025-26 regular season with a road match against Lock Haven on Saturday at Thomas Fieldhouse in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will be available for streaming through the PSAC Sports Network.
Now in his eighth season as head coach, Tim Flynn has led the Mountaineers to one of their strongest performances since joining the Big 12 Conference. West Virginia holds a 10-5 overall record and is 5-3 in conference competition. This marks the fourth consecutive season that the team has recorded at least ten dual wins—an achievement matched only once before in program history. The five dual victories over Big 12 opponents are also a program best since the league expanded.
The Mountaineers have posted three wins over ranked teams this season—the highest under Flynn and most since 2018—bringing their record against ranked opponents to 3-5.
Freshman Gunner Andrick, currently ranked No. 15 at 133 pounds, leads West Virginia with 21 individual victories and shares the team lead for wins against ranked wrestlers (seven) with redshirt sophomore Ty Watters (No. 8 at 157 pounds). Watters is second on the squad with an overall record of 18-2 and tops all teammates with twelve dual meet victories.
In total, seven West Virginia wrestlers have achieved at least fifteen wins this year, while four have notched five or more victories over ranked competitors.
Saturday’s contest will be the first meeting between West Virginia and Lock Haven since 2023; historically, West Virginia leads the series by a margin of 24-15.
