Virginia Tech’s wrestling team will open its dual meet season on Friday night, hosting Bucknell at Cassell Coliseum. The match begins at 7 p.m. ET and marks the first home appearance for the No. 10-ranked Hokies after their recent participation in the Southeast Open.
The Hokies enter the season as defending ACC regular season and tournament champions. They are led by two-time All-American and ACC champion Eddie Ventresca, who is currently ranked fourth nationally. The lineup also includes eight national qualifiers.
Fans attending Friday’s event can expect several activities, including a giveaway of takedown foam fingers to the first 250 people entering Cassell Coliseum. There will also be opportunities to take photos with ACC trophies before the match on the concourse.
The team features both returning wrestlers and new additions, including three transfers and what is considered one of the top high school recruiting classes in the country for 2025. The combination of veteran athletes and newcomers is expected to help build on last year’s achievements.
Friday’s dual could feature up to five matchups between nationally ranked wrestlers from Virginia Tech and Bucknell. Virginia Tech has nine wrestlers ranked in various polls, while Bucknell brings five ranked competitors.
After the match, fans will have an opportunity to meet members of the Virginia Tech wrestling team and get autographs on the concourse.
