The Virginia Tech wrestling team, currently ranked No. 6 nationally, will host two significant matchups this weekend at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg. The Hokies face off against No. 13 North Carolina on Friday and No. 3 Oklahoma State on Sunday, with both conference and national stakes involved.
Virginia Tech enters the weekend as the only undefeated team in their conference. With a victory over North Carolina, the Hokies could repeat as ACC regular season champions.
Sunday’s matchup against Oklahoma State is considered one of the top dual meets in NCAA wrestling this year. The contest features nine ranked matches and 18 ranked wrestlers between the teams.
Friday night’s event will include a Y2K Night promotion for fans attending the North Carolina meet. The first 250 attendees will receive a VT Chain giveaway, and students can participate in an exclusive raffle for a BEATS portable speaker through Scan-A-Thon.
Additional promotions are planned for Sunday’s meet with Oklahoma State. Students following the Student Hokie Club on Instagram can claim exclusive Hokies Knit Beanies and enter raffles for prizes including $500 cash and a Spring Game experience via Scan-A-Thon. All fans will have opportunities to win items such as a James Franklin signed mini helmet, Virginia Tech Frost Buddy, Virginia Tech YETI Roadie 15 Hard Cooler, and other school merchandise.
There will also be pre-dual autograph sessions with NCAA champions Caleb Henson and Jordan Oliver from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the concourse before Sunday’s dual.
Admission to both events is free.
