Virginia Tech announced on March 18 that its wrestling team will compete at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championship, scheduled for March 19-21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The Hokies enter the tournament after winning back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team titles and qualifying all ten starters for the national championship.
The event is significant as it marks only the fourth time in program history—and third time in four seasons—that Virginia Tech has qualified a full lineup for the NCAA Championship. The Hokies are one of just four teams to automatically qualify all ten starters and one of six programs sending a complete lineup this year.
Virginia Tech heads into the championship with a record four top-four seeds: No. 2 Eddie Ventresca, No. 4 Aaron Seidel, No. 4 Collin Gaj, and No. 4 Sonny Sasso. Other qualifiers include Ethen Miller and Jaden Bullock (both seeded No. 14), Jimmy Mullen (No. 16), and Tom Crook, Mac Church, and Sergio Desiante (all seeded No. 25). The team features a mix of experienced wrestlers such as two-time All-American Ventresca and newcomers like Seidel, Gaj, and Sasso making their first national appearances.
The ACC will send a total of 39 automatic qualifiers to this year’s NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, matching its previous record set in 2022. These allocations are distributed across all ten weight classes based on regular-season performance metrics including win percentage, coaches’ ranking, and RPI ranking through February 23.
Historically, Virginia Tech has achieved nine top-10 finishes at the NCAA Tournament since 2013 and produced a total of 55 All-Americans over its history. Notable achievements include two national champions—Mekhi Lewis in 2019 and Caleb Henson in recent years—as well as multiple finals appearances by athletes such as Devin Carter and Jared Haught.
