The University of Northern Iowa wrestling team, ranked 16th nationally, is set for a weekend of competition at two events. The Panthers will participate in the Jim Koch Open on Saturday, December 6, at UW Parkside Sports & Activity Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The following day, they will compete in the Cougar Clash at First Community Arena in Edwardsville, Illinois. Both tournaments offer live results through FloWrestling.

This marks UNI’s first appearance since their home dual opener victory over North Dakota State on November 23, where they won seven out of ten bouts and earned five bonus-point wins. Julian Farber secured a top-30 win at 133 pounds during that match. Jared Simma (174 pounds) and Wyatt Voelker (heavyweight) each achieved their 50th career victories.

Earlier this season, UNI’s newcomers have performed well at open tournaments. At the Grand View Open, Garret Rinken (133 pounds) and Ethan Basile (149 pounds) claimed titles in their divisions. Freshmen Jace Hedeman (133 pounds), Max Brady (141 pounds), and Logan Paradice (149 pounds) also won their respective classes in collegiate debuts.

At the Younes Hospitality Open before Thanksgiving, Max Brady finished second at 141 pounds along with Kyler Knaack (157 pounds), Jack Thomsen (165 pounds), and Izzy Moreno (174 pounds), who all placed as runners-up in their weight classes.
