The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) wrestling team has announced the return of its Takedowns and Tattoos promotion for the upcoming senior day dual. The event will take place during UNI’s home dual against Wisconsin on February 22 at the McLeod Center.
Fans have the opportunity to participate in a lottery, with 16 individuals selected to receive a free UNI-themed tattoo during the match. The tattoos will be provided by Isaiah Patton, a UNI wrestling alumnus and co-owner of Honey and Vinegar in Cedar Falls, along with his business partner and two other artists from the same studio.
Lottery registration opens on Friday, February 13, and closes at noon Central Time on Wednesday, February 18. Participants must be at least 18 years old and are required to sign waivers for both Honey and Vinegar and UNI. Tattoos will only be applied to arms or legs, using preset black-and-grey designs inspired by UNI.
Winners will be notified by Friday, February 20, after which they will receive an assigned time slot between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. CT during the dual meet with Wisconsin.
“Takedowns and Tattoos” was first introduced in 2025 and received national recognition from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), earning a silver award in the single game attendance/sellout campaign category. The event previously helped set a McLeod Center record for attendance with over 7,300 spectators at a match against Iowa State.
Tickets for remaining home duals can be purchased online through the UNI Ticket Office or by contacting them via phone or email.
