The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Athletics Department has announced plans to host an all-sports reunion during the 2026 homecoming celebration. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, and will be open to all former UNI student-athletes, spirit squad members, coaches, and managers from both current and previously sponsored teams.
This reunion coincides with the conclusion of UNI’s sesquicentennial celebration. Director of Athletics Megan Franklin said, “With the university celebrating 150 years, it offered the opportunity to acknowledge the impact of athletics in the history of the institution. Every student-athlete and coach across our entire all-time sport portfolio mattered during their playing career. It was important to me that all student-athletes and coaching alumni, regardless of whether we sponsor the sport today, know that we celebrate their contributions and value the relationships.”
Franklin also emphasized the significance of maintaining connections with past athletes and coaches: “The relationships with living student-athletes and coach alumni are important for me personally and to Panther Athletics coaches and administrative staff. The All-Sports All-Time reunion offers a celebration and the mark of reconnecting, notably by restarting sport program reunions for those programs not currently sponsored in the years following the Homecoming 2026 reunion. I am excited for this gathering to hear the stories, meet new alumni, and see connections across the generations!”
The reunion will be held at a pregame tailgate before UNI’s homecoming football game. Further details regarding times, locations, and RSVP procedures through the UNI Alumni Association will be provided at a later date.
