Redshirt sophomore Ty Watters from the West Virginia University wrestling team is set to compete in the 2025 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic. The event will take place at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey, on November 1.

Watters will wrestle against Daniel Cardenas of Stanford in the 157-pound weight class. This marks Watters’ second appearance at the NWCA All-Star Classic; last season, he competed but lost to Shayne Van Ness of Penn State with a score of 16-4.

Watters and fifth-year teammate Peyton Hall were the first Mountaineers to participate in the All-Star Classic since 2015. This year’s selection makes it the first time since Greg Jones’ three consecutive appearances from 2003 to 2005 that West Virginia has had a wrestler compete in back-to-back All-Star Classics.
