Six members of the Rutgers wrestling team were named 2026 NCAA Division I Scholar All-Americans, according to an April 2 announcement by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The honorees are Ayden Smith (125 pounds), Joseph Olivieri (141), Andrew Clark (149), Anthony White (157), Lenny Pinto (174), and Remy Cotton (197).
This recognition marks the highest number of scholar All-Americans for Rutgers wrestling since 2022, when seven athletes received the honor. Under head coach Scott Goodale, the program has produced a total of 35 scholar All-Americans. Notably, Anthony White became the first in program history to earn this distinction four times, while Andrew Clark received it for a third time. Remy Cotton and Joseph Olivieri are now two-time recipients, and both Lenny Pinto and Ayden Smith earned their first selections.
The team also set academic records during the season. Nineteen Scarlet Knights were selected as Winter Academic All-Big Ten honorees—a new high for the program—and they achieved a team grade point average of 3.33 in the fall semester, which is also a record.
In athletic competition, Rutgers finished No. 11 in the final NWCA Coaches Poll for a second consecutive year and ended its regular season with six straight wins. This streak included a victory over then-No. 6 Minnesota—the team’s first ever against that opponent—which contributed to their best Big Ten regular-season finish on record. The Scarlet Knights also secured nine qualifiers for the NCAA tournament, their most since 2016.
These achievements highlight continued progress both academically and athletically under Goodale’s leadership.
