Six wrestlers from Oklahoma State University have received No. 1 seeds for the upcoming Big 12 Wrestling Championships, according to the brackets released Monday.
The top-seeded Cowboys are Troy Spratley at 125 pounds, Jax Forrest at 133 pounds, Sergio Vega at 141 pounds, Casey Swiderski at 149 pounds, Dee Lockett at 165 pounds, and Alex Facundo at 174 pounds.
Spratley enters the tournament as the top seed after finishing second in last year’s championships. He has a record of 12-3 this season and is undefeated against Big 12 opponents. Forrest, a freshman, earned his No. 1 seed with a perfect start to his college career and has scored bonus points in all five of his conference matches.
Vega remains unbeaten this season with a record of 15-0 and eight wins over ranked competitors. Swiderski returns to competition after missing last season due to injury; he has won ten of his last eleven bouts.
Lockett, another freshman making his postseason debut, is seeded first at 165 pounds with a record of 13-1 and no losses against Big 12 wrestlers. Facundo completes the list of top seeds for Oklahoma State; he has won thirteen of his last fifteen matches and will receive an opening round bye.
Other Cowboys also received high seeds: Landon Robideau (157), Zack Ryder (184), and Konner Doucet (heavyweight) are each seeded second in their classes. Doucet previously placed fifth in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 championships before missing last season.
Cody Merrill will compete in his first Big 12 Championship at 197 pounds after securing a dual-clinching pin against Iowa last week.
The Big 12 Wrestling Championships take place March 6–7 at Tulsa’s BOK Center and will be available to stream on ESPN+.
