Dylan Shawver of Rutgers University was awarded an at-large selection to the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, according to a March 10 announcement from the university. The tournament will take place from March 19-21 in Cleveland.

This year, Rutgers wrestling will send nine of its ten starters to the national tournament, marking the second-highest number of participants for the Scarlet Knights in program history. The team is one of only eight programs nationwide with nine or more qualifiers for this year’s championships, joining top-ranked teams such as Penn State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Iowa.

The nine bids are Rutgers’ most since sending its entire lineup to Madison Square Garden in 2016. It is also just the fourth time that eight or more Scarlet Knights have qualified for nationals—all under head coach Scott Goodale.

Shawver is a former Big Ten Champion and NCAA All-American. He finished this season with a record of 20-11 and placed ninth at the Big Ten Championships held in State College, Pennsylvania. Shawver has achieved nine career wins at the national tournament and recently became only the eighteenth wrestler in program history to reach 100 career wins “On the Banks.” He now joins an exclusive group as just the eighth four-time NCAA qualifier in Rutgers wrestling history.

Rutgers’ qualifiers for this year’s championships include Ayden Smith (125), Dylan Shawver (133), Joseph Olivieri (141), Andrew Clark (149), Andrew Barbosa (165), Lenny Pinto (174), Shane Cartagena-Walsh (184), Remy Cotton (197), and Hunter Catka (heavyweight).
