Penn State’s wrestling team continued its undefeated season with a dominant 42-0 victory over Stanford at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 20, 2025. This result marked the Nittany Lions’ second shutout of the day and extended their NCAA Division I dual meet win streak to 77 matches, surpassing the previous record held by Oklahoma State from 1937 to 1951.

The dual started at the 125-pound weight class where sophomore Luke Lilledahl, ranked No. 2 nationally, secured a 4-2 decision over Stanford’s Nicco Provo. True freshman Marcus Blaze followed with a pin against All-American Tyler Knox at the 6:44 mark in the 133-pound bout, pushing Penn State ahead early.

At 141 pounds, true freshman Nate Desmond recorded a major decision win over Lain Lapoujian. Junior Shayne Van Ness maintained his top ranking at 149 pounds by defeating Aden Valencia with a score of 10-4. At 157 pounds, PJ Duke edged out Daniel Cardenas in a close match that ended 5-2 after Duke scored a crucial third-period takedown.

Junior Mitchell Mesenbrink earned four takedowns before pinning EJ Parco in the second period of their matchup at 165 pounds. Senior Levi Haines added another major decision for Penn State at 174 pounds by beating Lorenzo Norman. Sophomore Rocco Welsh contributed with a win over Abraham Wojcikiewicz in the next bout.

Josh Barr made his season debut for Penn State at the collegiate duals and achieved a technical fall against Angelo Posada in just over four minutes during their match at the 197-pound class. In the final bout of the evening, redshirt freshman Cole Mirasola delivered an offensive performance with seven takedowns leading to a technical fall against Luke Duthie.

Throughout both duals on December 20th, Penn State accumulated an overwhelming edge in takedowns (59-2) and bonus points through pins and technical falls. The team now stands at six wins without defeat this season as they prepare to host Rutgers on January 10, opening Big Ten competition.
