Oklahoma State wrestling enters new season ranked fifth nationally

The Oklahoma State wrestling team will begin the 2025-26 season ranked fifth in the NWCA Coaches poll, according to an announcement from the organization on Wednesday.

This season, Oklahoma State is scheduled to compete against ten of the top 25 teams in dual meets. The lineup includes matches with No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Iowa, No. 6 Iowa State, No. 10 Virginia Tech, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 14 Stanford, No. 18 Missouri, No. 19 Oklahoma, No. 20 West Virginia, and No. 22 Little Rock.

In addition to these matchups, Oklahoma State will face No. 12 Cornell in the opening round of the National Duals Invitational tournament. There is also a possibility that they could meet No. 7 NC State in a subsequent round and encounter several other ranked opponents during the event.

Regarding individual rankings from Intermat’s preseason list, nine Cowboys have been recognized, with six athletes placed within the top ten of their respective weight classes.

Troy Spratley leads Oklahoma State’s roster as the second-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds. Casey Swiderski (149), a transfer from Iowa State, holds the fifth spot; Zack Ryder (184), who transferred from Penn State, is ranked seventh; while Richard Figueroa II (133) from Arizona State, Cody Merrill (197), and Konner Doucet (heavyweight) are each ranked tenth.

Additional Cowboys featured in the rankings include Teague Travis at number sixteen for the 157-pound class, Alex Facundo at number eighteen for the 174-pound division, and Cael Hughes at twenty-first for the 141-pound category.

Oklahoma State will open its season on November 7 at Gallagher-Iba Arena against fourteenth-ranked Stanford at 7 p.m.
