The Oklahoma State wrestling team, ranked fifth nationally, secured a decisive 34-3 victory over No. 17 West Virginia at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown on Sunday. The Cowboys won nine out of ten matches, with Landon Robideau (157 pounds), Alex Facundo (174 pounds), and Konner Doucet (heavyweight) earning bonus points for the team.

This win moves Oklahoma State to a 7-1 overall record and 3-0 in conference play. West Virginia now stands at 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12.

A highlight of the event was the rematch between Oklahoma State’s No. 8 Troy Spratley and West Virginia’s No. 7 Jett Strickenberger at 125 pounds. Spratley avenged his previous title loss by winning 6-2, opening with a takedown and following up with a reversal that secured his victory.

Alex Facundo continued his strong performance following his recent Cougar Clash title at 174 pounds by defeating Leo Contino via technical fall, 20-5. This marks Facundo’s third technical fall win in his last four matches.

Heavyweight wrestler Konner Doucet pinned Wilson Spires from West Virginia in the first period, achieving his fourth career pin across 82 bouts.

True freshman Landon Robideau improved to a perfect season record of 7-0 after earning another technical fall against Cole Evans, making it six bonus-point wins for him this year. Fellow true freshmen Sergio Vega (141 pounds) and Dee Lockett (165 pounds) also advanced to undefeated records of 7-0 after their respective victories.

Zack Ryder (184 pounds), coming off a Cougar Classic title, narrowly defeated Ian Bush by a score of 2-1. Cody Merrill (197 pounds) recorded his third ranked win this season by overcoming Rune Lawrence.

Casey Swiderski collected two early takedowns at 149 pounds to defeat TJ Langley, marking Swiderski’s fifth win in six matches.

Oklahoma State’s only loss came when Ronnie Ramirez fell to Gunner Andrick after giving up a late takedown in the third period.

The Cowboys will next compete against No. 6 Nebraska on December 21 at Lincoln, with coverage scheduled on the Big Ten Network.
