Oklahoma State University’s Troy Spratley has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week following his recent performance against West Virginia, according to an announcement from the conference on Wednesday.
Spratley, who competes in the 125-pound weight class, is now one of four Oklahoma State wrestlers to receive this recognition during the current season. His teammates Zack Ryder (184 pounds), Sergio Vega (141 pounds), and Landon Robideau (157 pounds) have also earned the honor, making Oklahoma State the team with the most recipients of this award in the conference so far.
In a notable match that was a rematch of last season’s 125-pound Big 12 championship bout, Spratley secured a 6-2 win over Jett Strickenberger from West Virginia. He started strong with a takedown in the first period and maintained control by riding out Strickenberger until time expired. In the second period, Spratley executed a reversal that proved decisive for his victory.
“Oklahoma State 125-pounder Troy Spratley earned Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors after his performance against West Virginia, the conference announced on Wednesday.”
Spratley’s achievement adds to Oklahoma State’s leading position in individual weekly honors within Big 12 wrestling this season.
