No. 2 Ohio State will travel to Corvallis, Oregon, to compete against Oregon State in a wrestling dual scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. at Gill Coliseum. This event marks the Buckeyes’ final nonconference matchup before they begin their Big Ten season on January 11 at home against No. 23 Indiana.

Ohio State enters the contest with a 10-0 record. In recent competition, the team secured victories over Little Rock and No. 3 Iowa State at the 2025 Journeymen Collegiate Duals held in Nashville. At the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Illinois, e’Than Birden (165) and Seth Shumate (197) claimed titles, while Vinny Kilkeary (125) and Maddox Shaw both finished seventh.

In their last home appearance, Ohio State defeated No. 9 NC State by a score of 26-10. The dual featured six matches between Top 20 opponents; Ohio State won four of those bouts. Graduate student Carson Kharchla, ranked fifth nationally at 174 pounds, upset third-ranked Matthew Singleton with an 8-4 decision—a performance that earned Kharchla recognition as Big Ten Wrestler of the Week.

Earlier this season, Ohio State captured the title at the National Duals Invitational in November after defeating Wyoming, No. 10 Minnesota, No. 2 Nebraska, and No. 3 Iowa across four duals. The Buckeyes posted a perfect record in five weight classes—125 through 157—and lost only five matches during the two-day event.

At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s season opener, Ohio State registered nine wins out of ten matches and scored bonus points in seven bouts en route to a dominant victory.

Jesse Mendez, currently ranked first at 141 pounds and a three-time All-American as well as two-time defending national champion for Ohio State, started his campaign with a win over Anthony Echemendia of Iowa State at the NWCA All-Star Championships.

The Buckeyes’ roster includes twelve NCAA qualifiers who have made a combined twenty-two championship appearances entering this season.

The probable lineup for Sunday’s match includes:
– Nic Bouzakis (125)
– Ben Davino (133)
– Jesse Mendez (141)
– Ethan Stiles (149)
– Brandon Cannon (157)
– Paddy Gallagher (165)
– Carson Kharchla (174)
– Dylan Fishback (184)
– Luke Geog (197)
– Nick Feldman (Heavyweight)
