No. 2 Ohio State’s wrestling team continued its undefeated season with a 41-3 victory over Oregon State in Corvallis on Sunday, improving to an 11-0 record. The dual meet, held at Gill Coliseum, marked the Buckeyes’ final nonconference contest before beginning Big Ten competition.
Ohio State established a commanding lead early, winning the first five matches and securing bonus points in each. The Buckeyes won four of the last five bouts and allowed only one takedown throughout the match.
The team will open its Big Ten schedule at home against No. 23 Indiana on January 11 at the Covelli Center. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m., with live streaming available through B1G+.
In individual results, Nic Bouzakis (125 lbs) defeated Maximo Renteria by technical fall, while Ben Davino (133 lbs) also earned a technical fall win over Jeffrey Lopez. Jesse Mendez (141 lbs) won by major decision against Nash Singleton, and Ethan Stiles (149 lbs), a former Oregon State wrestler, secured a major decision over Noah Tolentino.
Brandon Cannon (157 lbs) pinned CJ Hamblin less than a minute into their bout. After intermission, Paddy Gallagher (165 lbs) won by decision against Matthew Olguin. Carson Kharchla (174 lbs) and Dylan Fishback (184 lbs) both claimed major decisions in their respective matches.
Oregon State’s Justin Rademacher was the only Beaver to secure a win, defeating Luke Geog at 197 pounds in tiebreakers. Nick Feldman (HWT) received a forfeit victory to close out the meet for Ohio State.
Ohio State finished with victories in nine of ten contested matches and did not allow Oregon State to score until late in the event.
