The University of North Carolina wrestling team began its season with a strong performance at the Carolina Duals, sweeping all three of its opponents. The Tar Heels, ranked 21st nationally, defeated UNC Pembroke 49-0, Greensboro College 57-0, and Davidson 47-0 on Friday afternoon in Chapel Hill.

This start marks the first time since the 2005-06 season that North Carolina has opened with a 5-0 record in dual competition. The three consecutive shutouts achieved during the event represent the longest such streak in program history.

Out of 30 matches contested by North Carolina wrestlers on Friday, 26 resulted in bonus-point victories for the team.

The Tar Heels will next face No. 20 West Virginia at Carmichael Arena on Friday, December 12. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
