The Big Ten Conference announced on March 18 that 96 University of Michigan student-athletes from eight teams have been recognized as Winter Academic All-Big Ten honorees for the 2025-26 season.

This recognition highlights academic achievement among student-athletes, who must be in at least their second academic year and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to qualify.

The list includes representatives from men’s swim and dive (19), men’s gymnastics (14), men’s ice hockey (13), women’s gymnastics (13), wrestling (12), women’s swim and dive (11), and both men’s and women’s basketball (seven each). Six Michigan athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs: Carly Bauman and Lily Clapper from women’s gymnastics, Brady Kendall and Letitia Sim from women’s swim and dive, and Taye Ghadiali and Joseph Walker from wrestling.

In addition to the winter honors, the conference also awards Academic All-Big Ten distinction during the spring season. The Distinguished Scholar Award is presented at the end of the academic year to letterwinners in at least their second year who have earned a GPA of 3.7 or higher for the current academic year, excluding summer school.

The full roster includes students pursuing a range of degrees across undergraduate and graduate programs. The announcement underscores ongoing efforts by both the university and conference to support academic excellence among athletes.
