Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling will host Cornell at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh for its final regular-season dual meet. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with a senior ceremony at 6:40 p.m. honoring six graduating wrestlers: Don Cates, Aaron Faison, Troy Hohman, Ryan Jack, Andrew Macchiavello, and Isaac Trumble.
The dual will be broadcast on ACC Network with commentary from Rock Harrison and Shawn Kenney. Tickets are available for purchase online.
The probable matchups include several ranked competitors from both teams. Notably, No. 2 Isaac Trumble will compete in the heavyweight class after returning from a knee injury sustained at last year’s NCAA Championships. Trumble has secured nine bonus point wins and five victories over ranked opponents this season.
Redshirt-sophomore Koy Buesgens (149 lbs), currently ranked No. 8, achieved his highest individual ranking this year and holds a 19-2 record with three top-10 wins. Freshman Will Denny (165 lbs) is on a 13-match winning streak that includes upsets over higher-ranked opponents.
NC State enters the meet with an all-time program record of 807-492-19 and head coach Pat Popolizio holds a career coaching record of 272-90-2, including 191 wins at NC State. A win against Cornell would mark the program’s third victory over the Big Red in their sixth meeting; NC State previously defeated Cornell 47-0 in December 2024.
Wolfpack wrestler Vincent Robinson (125 lbs), ranked No. 5, aims to defend his national title following an 11-3 season record so far.
The team began the season ranked in the NWCA preseason top ten for the ninth consecutive year dating back to the 2017-18 season. Seven Wolfpack wrestlers are currently ranked by InterMat, five of whom are in the top ten of their weight classes.
Within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), five teams are nationally ranked in the top twenty-five: Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Stanford. NC State seeks to reclaim sole possession of the ACC title after sharing regular-season honors last year and finishing third at the championship tournament; they previously held the trophy for six straight seasons between 2019 and 2024.
