Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling suffered its first conference loss of the season, falling to seventh-ranked Virginia Tech by a score of 21-12 at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. The event took place on military appreciation night, with recognition given to past, present, and future members of the United States military.

The match drew a sell-out crowd for the second consecutive dual at Reynolds Coliseum. This victory marked Virginia Tech’s first win in Reynolds Coliseum since 2016 and ended NC State’s undefeated run in conference competition this season. As a result, NC State’s chances to claim the ACC Regular Season Championship have diminished.

Despite the team loss, several Wolfpack wrestlers secured individual victories. Ryan Jack (141 lbs), Will Denny (165 lbs), Matty Singleton (174 lbs), and Isaac Trumble (heavyweight) each recorded wins against ranked opponents. Three matches lost by NC State were decided by two points or fewer.

The meet concluded with Virginia Tech winning six out of ten bouts. Notable results included Eddie Ventresca defeating Vincent Robinson at 125 lbs in overtime, Aaron Seidel achieving a technical fall over Zach Redding at 133 lbs, and Isaac Trumble closing the night with a win for NC State at heavyweight.

NC State will next face No. 14 Pittsburgh on the road as it begins the final month of regular-season competition.
