Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling secured a narrow 19-18 victory over Cornell in its final dual meet of the 2025-26 season. The match took place at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina, with an attendance of 2,657.

Under head coach Pat Popolizio, who is in his 14th year leading the program, NC State finished the season with a 15-4 overall record and went 5-1 in ACC competition. Popolizio has now led the Wolfpack to at least 10 dual wins in 12 out of his 14 seasons at NC State.

Both teams won five bouts each during the meet. Bonus points played a significant role in determining the outcome. NC State started strong by winning the first four matches and building a 16-0 lead before Cornell claimed victories in the last four bouts.

Technical falls from Isaac Trumble and Zach Redding helped give NC State an early advantage. At 149 pounds, Koy Buesgens delivered what was described as the highlight of the night by defeating second-ranked Jaxon Joy, handing Joy his first loss of the season.

Matty Singleton lost a close match to Simon Ruiz at 174 pounds after initially taking a lead.

NC State will next compete at the ACC Championship on Sunday, March 8, at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia.
