Jimmy Mullen, a redshirt sophomore for Virginia Tech, secured the 2025 Keystone Classic title in Philadelphia on Sunday. Competing at 285 pounds and ranked No. 16 nationally, Mullen achieved four wins during the tournament, three of which were by bonus points—two pins and one major decision. In his semifinal match, he overcame a 5-0 deficit with two takedowns in under a minute to win and advance to the finals, where he finished with a pin.

Ryan Burton, also from New Jersey and a teammate of Mullen’s at St. Joe’s Regional, earned second place at 165 pounds. As a true freshman ranked No. 14 nationally, Burton recorded a technical fall, a major decision, and another victory before narrowly losing in overtime tiebreakers in the final.

Virginia Tech’s freshman class continued its strong performance with Collin Gaj placing third at 149 pounds after defeating the No. 29 ranked wrestler in his division. Gaj lost his semifinal bout to the eventual champion but recovered to take third place in his first collegiate tournament.

Drew Gorman made his debut for Virginia Tech at 141 pounds and finished fifth after winning four consecutive matches in consolation rounds following an early loss. He collected three bonus point victories over the weekend.

Mac Church returned to competition for Virginia Tech by finishing sixth at 165 pounds with two bonus point victories among four wins.

Ben Weader rounded out Virginia Tech’s podium finishers with sixth place at 174 pounds. The true freshman from Chantilly battled back from deficits throughout the tournament, including an overtime win after trailing by eight points earlier in the match.

The Hokies will compete again on December 7 as they send groups to both the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and the Patriot Open following Thanksgiving break.
