No. 17 Missouri wrestling will host its final home dual of the season against No. 16 Oklahoma on Thursday, February 12, at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri. The Senior Day ceremony is set to begin at 6:10 p.m. CT, followed by the match at 6:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the event live on ESPN+.
Missouri enters the matchup with an 11-7 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Big 12 competition. In their most recent outing, the Tigers secured a 26-13 win over No. 16 West Virginia on February 6, winning six out of ten matches and closing with five consecutive victories from weight classes 165 to heavyweight.
Cam Steed, Aeoden Sinclair, and Evan Bates each recorded wins over ranked opponents during that meet. Steed’s performance included a pin against Brody Conley in just 23 seconds at the 174-pound class. True freshman Seth Mendoza added a technical fall victory at 149 pounds.
Steed was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on February 10 for his efforts against West Virginia. “Steed bested No. 13 Brody Conley by fall in 23 seconds to help Mizzou defeat No. 16 West Virginia, Feb. 6,” according to the release.
Redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair leads Missouri with 24 wins this season and has accumulated seven pins along with a team-high of 89 takedowns so far.
The latest NCAA Individual Coaches’ Poll listed all ten Missouri starters among the top-33 in their respective weight classes—making Missouri one of only six schools to achieve this distinction in the first poll of the season.
Head coach Brian Smith reached his milestone of career dual win number 350 after defeating Northern Colorado on January 25; he now holds second place among active Division I coaches with a total of 352 wins.
“Coach Smith now has 352 wins, which currently ranks second among active NCAA Division I coaches behind North Carolina’s Rob Knoll with 356,” according to team information provided.
In their previous encounter last year, Missouri lost to Oklahoma by a score of 23-13 but managed four individual match victories during that dual meet.
The series between these two programs stands at Oklahoma leading with a record of forty-four wins to sixteen for Missouri over sixty meetings. However, under Coach Brian Smith’s leadership since taking over in nineteen ninety-eight, Missouri has won eight out of nine contests against Roger Kish-coached Oklahoma teams.
Missouri will close out its regular season schedule traveling to face No.4 Iowa State on February twenty-second; that match will also be available via ESPN+ streaming.
