The University of Missouri wrestling team, ranked No. 20 nationally, was defeated by No. 3 Oklahoma State with a score of 36-3 on Sunday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This loss leaves the Tigers at 5-9 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 competition, while Oklahoma State continues its undefeated season at 12-0 and 9-0 in the conference.

Oklahoma State began the dual meet with two wins before Missouri got on the scoreboard. Josh Edmond, a redshirt junior for Missouri, secured an 11-4 decision at 141 pounds to give his team its only points of the night. Following Edmond’s win, Oklahoma State claimed two more victories to take a 13-3 lead into intermission.

In one of the evening’s featured matches, Missouri’s Cam Steed lost a close contest to Cameron Amine, a three-time All-American currently ranked sixth nationally. Freshman Aeoden Sinclair also competed for Missouri but fell to Dustin Plott, last year’s NCAA finalist. Oklahoma State swept all five matches after intermission and earned bonus points in four of them.

According to match notes provided by the university, “The loss drops the Black and Gold to 8-46-1 against Oklahoma State.” The notes further state: “The Cowboys extended their win streak in the series to three duals, with Mizzou’s last series win coming in Columbia during the 2021-22 season.” Additionally: “Edmond’s 11-4 decision at 141 pounds marked his eighth dual win of the season and bumped his dual record to 8-5.” The report also highlights that: “Sinclair saw action in his fifth dual of the season, wrestling at 184 pounds for the first time.”

Missouri will host Iowa State next on February 22 for Senior Night at Hearnes Center. The match is scheduled for noon and will be available via streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
