No. 17 Missouri wrestling secured a 23-14 win over No. 16 Oklahoma in a Big 12 dual on Thursday, February 12, in Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers achieved six individual victories and won five consecutive matches to shift the momentum of the meet. With this result, Missouri improved its season record to 12-7 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma dropped to 10-5 overall and holds a conference record of 3-4.

Oklahoma native Gage Walker, ranked No. 26 at 133 pounds, delivered Missouri’s first win by defeating Carter Schmidt of Oklahoma with an 8-6 decision. Josh Edmond, ranked No. 22 at 149 pounds, earned a victory against Hunter Hollingsworth with a score of 4-2. Local wrestler Teague Travis, ranked No. 30 at 157 pounds, won his bout decisively with a score of 14-4 against Layton Schneider.

J Conway secured his fourth dual win at the 165-pound weight class with an 8-6 decision over Peyten Kellar. Cam Steed, ranked No.10 at 174 pounds and recently named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week, defeated Trae Rios by technical fall (21-3). Redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair (No.3 at 184) ended his match quickly with five takedowns in just over a minute and finished with a technical fall (22-6).

With this victory, Missouri advances to a historical record of 17 wins and 44 losses against Oklahoma all-time; under Head Coach Brian Smith’s leadership, the series stands at Mizzou’s favor at fifteen wins to ten losses.

Associate Head Coach Kendric Maple coached against his alma mater for the fifth time since joining Missouri’s staff; “Mizzou picking up the win in four out of the five meetings,” according to team officials. Maple was previously an NCAA Champion representing Oklahoma before starting his coaching career.

Of Missouri’s six wins during this dual meet, three resulted in bonus points—this included back-to-back technical falls by Steed and Sinclair.

Josh Edmond was noted as “the first senior to pick up a win on the evening,” earning his nineteenth victory for the season as he approaches twenty wins for the first time in his collegiate career.

Teague Travis recorded his tenth bonus-point win this season after securing victory by technical fall; he concludes competition inside Hearnes Center this year with two wins from three matches.

Cam Steed continued what has been described as an impressive run by notching his eighth bonus-point win and fourth technical fall this season at the weight class.

Aeoden Sinclair registered seven takedowns in one period alone en route to achieving his tenth technical fall as a redshirt freshman.

Missouri will next compete on Sunday, February 22nd when they travel to face No. 4 Iowa State for their final dual meet of the regular season; coverage will be available live on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m Central Time.
