Six members of the University of Missouri wrestling program are set to compete at the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals in Geneva, Ohio, this weekend. The event begins with freestyle U23 preliminaries and the full slate of U20 Freestyle Trials on Saturday, May 31. The competition will conclude on June 1 with the quarterfinals through finals for U23 Nationals.

Five of the six wrestlers will represent Tiger Style Wrestling Club, with two making their club debut at this tournament. Winners in the U20 bracket will earn a place on the U20 World Team, which is scheduled to participate in the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria from August 18-24, 2025.

Four Missouri wrestlers are entered in the U20 World Team Trials: Mack Mauger (57kg), Seth Mendoza (61kg), Danny Heiser (74kg), and Aeoden Sinclair (86kg). Mauger, Mendoza, and Sinclair will compete for Tiger Style Wrestling Club; Heiser is competing for Askren Wrestling Academy under coach Ben Askren.

Mauger, Heiser, and Sinclair previously competed at last month’s US Open in Las Vegas. Mauger finished third at 57kg; Heiser placed fifth at 74kg; Sinclair reached the finals but finished second at 86kg.

In the U23 Nationals division, Josh Edmond (70kg) and Jarrett Stoner (125kg) will compete for Tiger Style. Edmond has earned a Freestyle National Championship as well as United World Wrestling Cadet Freestyle All-America honors during his high school career in Detroit. In 2020 he won Junior Nationals at 65kg but did not compete internationally due to that year’s cancellation of world championships caused by COVID-19.

Stoner hails from Rockwall, Texas where he was a four-year letterwinner and captured a Class 6A State Title in high school wrestling. Since joining Missouri, he has won four collegiate tournaments and recently completed his redshirt freshman season wrestling at 285 pounds. At last month’s U20 US Open in Las Vegas he went 5-2 but did not finish among the top eight.

All matches can be streamed live via FloWrestling with a subscription starting May 29 through May 31.
