Maryland wrestling to hold annual Red-Black Match ahead of new season

Maryland wrestling is set to begin its 2025–26 season with the annual Red-Black Match, scheduled for Thursday, October 23 at Schanwald Pavilion. The event will start at 6 p.m., and admission is free for all attendees.

The intrasquad meet will include 12 individual matches between members of the team. The matchups are as follows: Abram Cline vs. Tyler Garvin (125 lbs), AJ Rodrigues vs. John Martin Best (165 lbs), Seth Digby vs. Alex Urnyiak (165 lbs), Dario Lemus vs. Clayton Gabrielson (141 lbs), Jackson Young vs. Michael Pizzuto (149 lbs), Mekhi Neal vs. Jared Goldberg (157 lbs), Garrett Reece vs. Luke Jacobs (157 lbs), Ryan Money vs. Dom Solis (174 lbs), Branson John vs. Sepanta Ahanj-Elias (197 lbs), Oscar Williams vs. Joey Schneck (285 lbs). Additional bouts will feature the winner of Match #1 against Presden Sanchez at 125 lbs, and the winners of Matches #2 and #3 facing off at 165 lbs.

Following this intrasquad event, Maryland wrestling will officially open its season at the Southeast Open on Sunday, November 2, beginning at 10 a.m., held at Roanoke College’s Cregger Center in Salem, Virginia.
