On March 4, the University of Maryland will hold its annual Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising event aimed at supporting student-athletes and athletic programs. The initiative allows fans, alumni, families, and friends to contribute to specific sport programs or broader funds such as unrestricted accounts, facilities projects, and endowment funds.
According to the university, all contributions made during Giving Day go directly toward enhancing scholarship support for student-athletes and improving training resources. The event seeks participation from supporters at every level in order to help maintain the competitive standards associated with Maryland Athletics.
“In celebration of his first Giving Day at Maryland, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics Jim Smith will contribute $1,000 for every 100 donors who make a gift, reinforcing the department’s goal of reaching 1,000 donors in 24 hours and the importance of coming together in the spirit of community and winning.”
