Wrestling head coach Alex Clemsen has announced the University of Maryland’s wrestling schedule for the 2025–26 season. The schedule includes eight home events, a series of Big Ten Conference duals, and several non-conference matches.
“This year’s schedule is a great blend of nonconference opponents, great conference wrestling as always, and a few marquee events, with the Southern Scuffle back in the mix,” Clemsen said. “Lots of great opportunities for our team to compete at a high level and for our fans to see some of the best wrestling in the nation. Hope everyone shows up and packs the Pav all year long. Go Terps!”
The season will open on October 23 with the annual Red/Black Intrasquad meet in College Park. The team will then travel to three open tournaments: the Southeast Open in Roanoke, Virginia on November 2; Journeyman Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on November 9; and Throwdown on the Yorktown in Charleston, South Carolina on November 15.
In late November and early December, Maryland will compete in regional duals against Morgan State in Baltimore on November 21 and American University in Washington, D.C., on December 5. They will also participate in the GMU Open in Fairfax, Virginia on December 7 before returning home to host Pittsburgh on December 13.
The Terps start their January competitions at the Southern Scuffle tournament in Chattanooga, Tennessee from January 3–4. The Big Ten Conference season begins with away matches at Northwestern (January 9) and Wisconsin (January 11). Maryland hosts Purdue on January 16 before traveling to Indiana for a dual meet on January 18. Penn State visits College Park on January 25 followed by an away match at Rutgers on January 30.
In February, Maryland will host Minnesota (February 8), Ohio State (February 15), and Drexel (February 20) to close out its regular season home schedule.
Last season saw Maryland achieve its best results since joining what is widely considered one of college wrestling’s most competitive conferences. The team posted record point totals at both the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Championships and qualified six wrestlers for nationals—the highest number since 2012. Jaxon Smith earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish at 184 lbs., becoming Maryland’s first All-American since 2019.
For next season, four NCAA qualifiers—Braxton Brown, Kal Miller, Branson John, and Jaxon Smith—are set to return as part of Maryland’s core roster.
Season tickets are now available through the Maryland Athletics Pride Pass program for $99. This pass provides access to all regular-season home events across multiple sports including wrestling. Terrapin Club members can purchase passes at a discounted rate of $89 by logging into their accounts online. Matside Season Ticket Holders will receive renewal information within two weeks; single match tickets are expected to go on sale mid-November.
