Lehigh University’s wrestling team will conclude its regular dual season on Saturday night with a matchup against Arizona State at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona. The contest is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET/7 p.m. MST and will be available for viewing on ESPN+ as well as audio coverage on FOX Sports Radio 94.7 FM, 1230 AM, and LVFOXSports.com.
The Mountain Hawks are entering the match after extending their dual winning streak to eight with recent victories over Penn and Bucknell. In the match against Penn, Lehigh overcame a halftime deficit by winning the last five bouts, while the Bucknell contest was decided in the final heavyweight bout when Nathan Taylor secured a decision win.
This meeting marks the fourth time in five seasons that Lehigh will close its dual schedule facing Arizona State. The teams previously met at the National Duals Invitational in November, where Lehigh won 24-18 after Remy Brancato-Roed’s pin at 197 pounds sealed the victory.
Probable starters for Lehigh include several nationally ranked wrestlers according to NCAA Coaches’ rankings from February 12: Sheldon Seymour (No. 4 at 125), Luke Stanich (No. 5 at 141), Logan Rozynski (No.11 at 157), Max Brignola (No.10 at 165), Rylan Rogers (No.16 at 184), and Nathan Taylor (No.8 at heavyweight).
In their last home appearance, No.22 Lehigh defeated Bucknell with a score of 21-16, highlighted by an upset from Seamus Mack and wins from Sheldon Seymour and Max Brignola among others.
Against Penn, Lehigh rallied from a significant deficit to win six out of ten bouts, including decisive performances by Rylan Rogers and Nathan Taylor.
Seven Mountain Hawks are featured in national wrestling rankings across outlets such as InterMat, FloWrestling, WrestleStat, The Open Mat, and Amateur Wrestling News.
Arizona State enters this dual with a record of four wins and eleven losses this season but is coming off a recent victory over California Baptist. Five Sun Devils are listed in current InterMat rankings; brothers Kyler Larkin (No.5 at 133) and Kaleb Larkin (No.6 at 157) lead their lineup under head coach Zeke Jones.
Lehigh holds a historical edge in the series between these programs with nine wins to Arizona State’s five across fourteen previous meetings.
After this event, Lehigh will prepare for the EIWA Championships taking place March 6-7 in Washington D.C., where they look to defend their league-leading title count.
