Lehigh University has announced the addition of seven new wrestlers to its men’s wrestling program. Head coach Pat Santoro shared that these recruits have collectively achieved eight state or National Prep titles and 16 podium finishes in state or National Prep competitions.
The new class, which is heavily focused on middle and upper weight classes, includes six wrestlers ranging from 149 to 174 pounds and one heavyweight. Coach Santoro expressed enthusiasm about the newcomers, stating, “We’re excited to officially welcome this group of wrestlers to the Lehigh wrestling family. They are a talented, driven, and high-character group who align with our values and vision.”
The incoming class has been ranked No. 22 nationally by MatScouts. The recruits will join a team that already features three All-Americans, five EIWA champions, and eight NCAA Championship qualifiers.
The new additions include Duncan Christensen from Malvern Prep in Pennsylvania; Brady Collins from Clearfield Area High School in Pennsylvania; Anthony Evanitsky from Wyoming Seminary in Pennsylvania; Rowan Holmes from Somerset Area High School in Pennsylvania; Chase Quenault from Delbarton School in New Jersey; Vaughn Spencer from Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania; and Chase Van Hoven from Brooke Point High School in Virginia.
Each wrestler brings a strong track record of achievements. For example, Christensen won 39 bouts over three years at Malvern Prep. Collins holds a career record of 163-17 with multiple state tournament placements. Evanitsky is a PIAA titleholder who also secured a National Prep title while at Wyoming Seminary.
Holmes finished his high school career with an AA state title and a senior season record of 44-1 at Somerset Area. Quenault has achieved multiple regional championships while competing for Delbarton School.
Spencer is noted for his back-to-back PIAA titles despite missing his final high school season due to injury. Lastly, Van Hoven arrives as a four-time Virginia state champion recognized as the Virginia 5A/6A Student-Athlete of the Year.
