Indiana University’s Jacob Moran competed in the semifinals of the NCAA Wrestling Championships on March 20 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Moran, seeded No. 14 at 125 pounds, faced No. 10 Marc-Anthony McGowan from Princeton in a closely contested match.

The match remained tied at 1-1 into the third period as both wrestlers maintained a defensive approach. In the final seconds, McGowan secured a takedown to win by decision, 4-1, advancing to the finals and sending Moran to the consolation bracket.

Moran is Indiana’s first wrestling semifinalist since 2016. With this result, he will compete for a possible third-place finish but is guaranteed no lower than sixth place overall. He is scheduled to face Nico Provo of Stanford in the consolation semifinals during Session V of the championships.

Other Indiana wrestlers also competed across various weight classes but did not advance past their respective rounds. The team currently stands in twentieth place with a score of 19.5 points through Session IV. Penn State leads the team standings with 153 points, followed by Oklahoma State and Nebraska.

The outcome highlights Indiana’s presence at the national level and marks an important milestone for Moran and his team as they continue competition.
