The University of Iowa men’s wrestling team has been named the No. 1 seed and will compete against Missouri in the opening round of the National Duals Invitational, which is presented by Paycom. The event is scheduled to take place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 15-16.

Historically, Iowa holds a 4-2 record against Missouri. Their first encounter was in 1967, with Iowa winning 24-8, while their most recent matchup occurred in the 2015 National Dual finals, where Missouri secured an 18-12 victory.

Iowa has participated in a National Duals tournament 20 times, achieving an all-time record of 72 wins, 15 losses, and three draws. The team has claimed the tournament title six times—in 1992, 1995, 1996, 2008, 2009, and 2010—and has finished as runners-up four times. Additional placements include third place seven times, fourth once, fifth once, and sixth once.

Iowa’s overall record against teams participating in this year’s tournament stands at 392 wins, 137 losses, and nine draws.

The National Duals Invitational will feature 16 teams and offer a total prize pool exceeding $1 million. The top eight teams will receive payouts: $200,000 for first place; $150,000 for second and third; $75,000 for fourth; and amounts ranging from $50,000 to $20,000 for fifth through eighth places. All participating teams are guaranteed $20,000 for attending.

Automatic entries were granted to the top twelve teams from the final 2025 NCAA Division I standings—Cornell, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, NC State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech all accepted their spots. The remaining positions were filled by random drawing from teams ranked between thirteenth and twenty-fourth in the NCAA standings: Arizona State, Lehigh, Little Rock, Missouri and Wyoming.
