Indiana University’s wrestling team lost to the University of Oklahoma on Sunday, with a final score of 22-13. The match took place at McCasland Fieldhouse in Norman, Oklahoma.
Indiana led for much of the competition, winning four of the first six bouts. At one point, Indiana was ahead 13-6 after Tyler Lillard secured a decision victory at 165 lbs. However, Oklahoma won the last four matches, including three with bonus points, to secure the win.
Jacob Moran opened the dual for Indiana at 125 lbs., defeating Conrad Hendriksen in overtime by a score of 5-2. Henry Porter contributed with a win over Tyler Wells at 141 lbs., and Bryce Lowery earned a major decision against Layton Schneider at 157 lbs. After the break, Lillard extended Indiana’s lead with his victory over Bryce Burkett.
Oklahoma responded by tying the match after wins at 174 and 184 lbs., then pulled ahead with victories in the final two bouts: DJ Parker defeated Gabe Sollars by major decision at 197 lbs., and Juan Mora secured a technical fall over Caleb Marzolino at heavyweight.
Following this result, Indiana’s season record stands at 2-1. The team will next face Central Michigan on Friday, December 5th at Wilkinson Hall.
