Indiana Wrestling head coach Angel Escobedo announced on March 27 that Mason Goelz has signed with the program and will join the Hoosiers as part of their 2026 recruiting class.

Goelz, who is from Avon, Indiana, will become a member of the team in the fall of 2026. He joins Tommy Gibbs and Jackson Shipley in Indiana’s incoming class for that year.

Goelz currently wrestles at Avon High School under coach Alex Johns and competes with Contenders Wrestling Academy. His high school career includes placing third at 138 pounds at the 2026 IHSAA State Championships, second at 120 pounds in the 2025 championships, and fifth at 106 pounds in the 2024 championships. Goelz intends to major in Business when he attends Indiana University.

His family includes parents Jacob and Deann Goelz, as well as siblings Noah and Olivia Goelz. When asked about his decision to join Indiana University, Goelz said, “I always wanted to go to IU.”

The addition of Goelz is expected to strengthen Indiana’s wrestling roster as they continue building their future teams.
