Five members of the West Virginia University wrestling team were named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Apr. 1.
The recognition was given to redshirt junior Ian Bush and freshmen Gunner Andrick, Brock Kehler, Casen Roark, and Luke Satriano. This marks the third time Bush has received this honor, making him only the sixth Mountaineer to earn the distinction three times.
West Virginia University’s wrestling program has now had five or more Scholar All-Americans for three consecutive years, which is a first in its history. In addition, under head coach Tim Flynn’s leadership over eight seasons, at least three wrestlers have been named Scholar All-Americans six times.
The continued academic achievements of these athletes highlight both their commitment in the classroom and the ongoing support from coaching staff. The trend suggests a strong emphasis on academics within the program.
