Lehigh University announced on March 11 that five of its wrestlers have earned top 10 seeds for the upcoming NCAA Championships, which will take place in Cleveland from March 19 to March 21. The announcement follows the release of official seeds and brackets for the national tournament.
This marks the first time since 2018 that Lehigh has had five wrestlers seeded in the top ten at their respective weight classes. The achievement highlights a strong season for the Mountain Hawks, who had six athletes qualify for the championships.
Graduate student Sheldon Seymour received the No. 4 seed at 125 pounds and is set to face Tyler Chappell of Pittsburgh, seeded No. 29, in his opening match. This matchup is notable as it is the only rematch involving a Lehigh qualifier this season. Sophomore Luke Stanich secured the No. 5 seed at 141 pounds and will compete against Pierson Manville of Arizona State, who holds the No. 28 seed.
Heavyweight Nathan Taylor enters as the No. 6 seed and will begin his tournament against Hunter Catka of Rutgers, seeded No. 27. Senior Max Brignola earned a No. 7 seed at 165 pounds and will face Indiana’s Tyler Lillard, who is seeded No. 26 in round one. Sophomore Logan Rozynski rounds out Lehigh’s top ten seeds with a No. 10 ranking at 157 pounds; he will open against Kaleb Burgess of Buffalo, seeded No. 23.
Lehigh’s sixth qualifier, junior Rylan Rogers, is seeded No.16 at 184 pounds and will meet Ian Bush of West Virginia (No.17) in his first match.
The university noted that all seeds and brackets are subject to change until competition begins next week at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
