Maryland Athletics announced on Mar. 9 that Dario Lemus, a redshirt sophomore on the wrestling team, has been named the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
The weekly honor recognizes Maryland student-athletes who excel both in their sport and in other aspects of university life during the 2025–26 season.
Lemus earned this recognition after finishing sixth at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships as the No. 11 seed in his weight class. His performance secured him an automatic NCAA qualifying bid at 141 pounds, marking the first time he has achieved this milestone. The 141-pound division had only seven automatic qualifying spots, which was fewer than any other weight class in the tournament.
During his run to sixth place, Lemus recorded several notable victories. He won a major decision by a score of 10–1 over Jaden Crumpler of Michigan State, who was seeded fourteenth. He also pinned Joey Ragusin of Michigan, seeded fifth, in just two minutes and forty-six seconds. Additionally, Lemus defeated Danny DeKraker of Northwestern, seeded eighth, with a close 9–7 decision.
The recognition highlights Lemus’s strong performance at a key point in the wrestling season and underscores his progress as an athlete.
