Graduate student Carson Kharchla has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week following Ohio State’s recent wrestling victory over North Carolina State. The announcement comes after the Buckeyes, ranked No. 2 nationally, defeated No. 9 NC State at the Covelli Center.
Kharchla, who holds a national ranking of No. 5 in the 174-pound weight class, secured an 8-4 win against Matthew Singleton, who is ranked No. 3 in the same category for NC State. During the match, Kharchla did not concede any takedowns and scored points with a reversal and two takedowns.
Ohio State currently holds an undefeated record of 8-0 this season. The team is scheduled to compete next at the Journeymen Collegiate Duals in Nashville on Sunday, where they will face Little Rock and No. 3 Iowa State.
