Sophomore Branson John from the Maryland wrestling team has been named the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week for his recent performance. The weekly honor recognizes a Maryland student-athlete who shows strong achievement both in and out of athletic competition during the 2025–26 season.
John, currently ranked No. 17, achieved a significant upset at 197 pounds by pinning No. 10 Luke Geog of Ohio State, who are ranked second nationally. The match ended with a pin at the 3:40 mark.
This win was John’s first against a top-10 opponent and raised his season record to 21–4, which is the best on the team. He also holds a 5–2 record in Big Ten matches.
