South Dakota State University’s Brady Roark received an at-large bid to the NCAA Wrestling Championships, according to a March 10 announcement from the NCAA.
Roark, a redshirt sophomore from Seneca, Missouri, competed in the 125-pound weight class this season. He finished with a record of 20-7 overall and went 9-2 in dual meets. At the recent Big 12 Championships, Roark was seeded fourth and wrestled six matches, finishing sixth with a 3-3 record. The Big 12 Conference had five allocated spots for his weight class, so Roark required an at-large selection to advance to the national tournament. This marks his first qualification for the NCAA Tournament.
In addition to Roark’s selection, Cale Seaton was named as an alternate for the 133-pound division after placing eighth at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship. Seaton has a season record of 16-11 and went 7-8 in duals. He will be eligible to compete if a spot becomes available in his weight class at the national event.
Five other South Dakota State wrestlers—Julian Tagg, Cael Swensen, Moses Espinoza-Owens, Bennett Berge, and Luke Rasmussen—secured their places in the NCAA Wrestling Championships by qualifying through their performances at the Big 12 Tournament. They will join Roark among the field of competitors representing their respective weight classes.
The NCAA Wrestling Championships are scheduled for March 19 through March 21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
