Freshman wrestler Gunner Andrick has been named the West Virginia University Student-Athlete of the Week, an honor presented by University Apartments.
Andrick, ranked No. 25 in his weight class, competed against No. 11 Ronnie Ramirez at 133 pounds during a recent match. The first period ended without a score. In the second period, Andrick earned an escape to take a 1-0 lead into the final period. Ramirez tied the match with an escape of his own, but Andrick secured a late takedown to win 4-2.
This victory marks Andrick’s third win over a ranked opponent this season.
